During the application, the thermal and mechanical factor have an effect. During warm paraffin application, heat is transferred to the tissues, their regional temperature increases; local skin and tissue metabolism, dispersion of infiltration and tissue regeneration in the damaged centre are increased. Paraffin applications are recommended during the cold season.
Methodology:
- Liquid paraffin heated to 60-90 °C in special paraffin heating devices is used.
- After that, a 1 – 2 cm layer of paraffin dissolved at 55-65 °C is applied onto the skin with a flat brush after greasing that area with Vaseline in advance.
- The appropriate body surface is then covered with an oilcloth and wrapped with cotton wool or woollen cloth.
- Procedures are performed daily or every second day; the course is subject to 12-15 procedures. After the procedure, a 30-40-minutes rest in a warm room is necessary. You can repeat the course in 1 – 2 months.
